(GRATTAN, MICHIGAN) Sunday, August 10, 2003 -- The road to the SCCA National Championship RUNOFFS continued today at Grattan Raceway near Grand Rapids, Michigan. And Jamie Bach and B-K Motorsports continued their plans for a "championship" season with a 17 second runaway victory, their fourth in a row at the Michigan circuit, and a result of their track record setting pole position. This weekend's pole position comes on the heels of his first pole position in the STAR MAZDA PRO SERIES North American Championship at Sears Point Raceway two weeks ago. For the months of July and August, in addition to their DELL and Goodyear Tire logos, Bach and B-K are carrying the MAZDA North America's ZERO TIME EVENT logos...the two month summer sales event celebrated at Mazda dealerships nationwide.
For the third weekend in a row, warm weather blanketed the Midwest and track conditions were ideal for a track record. Bach and the B-K team had the car dialed in and took the top qualifying spot with a dominating lap early in Saturday's qualifying session. The lap was over a second quicker than the entire field. After turning the quick lap early in the session, the team came in and sat in the pit lane in order to save their tires. And it turned out to be the right move, as nobody else got close to Bach's pole time and B-K secured their seventh pole position of the season.
Today's race was nearly as perfect as qualifying. Bach took the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back. He was able to put nearly every car in the field one lap down before the checkered fell and he came home 17 seconds ahead of the second place Formula Mazda. The win marks an important line in the sand at the SCCA RUNOFFS approach. Bach, the defending Formula Mazda National Champion is seeking to repeat his winning ways...and has been picked by SCCA's SportsCar Magazine to do exactly that.
The next few weeks will be extremely important for the B-K Motorsports team as they will be at Mosport next weekend for the STAR MAZDA Pro SERIES, Road America the following weekend for another PRO SERIES race and then Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the final tune-up for the RUNOFFS. Then, just prior to heading to Mid-Ohio for the RUNOFFS, Bach and B-K will be at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca September 5-7 for the STAR MAZDA SERIES event there in conjunction with the American LeMans Series

"We are really excited to get another win...because we have ZERO TIME TO WAIT! We are pleased to help Mazda with the sales momentum for these two months and we hope we are also building up towards a repeat championship at the RUNOFFS and we still hope to steal the STAR MAZDA SERIES Championship as well.
We feel like we are learning more each time out and I am glad to keep putting in laps and getting as much seat time as possible before the RUNOFFS. Grattan has been a good place for us and another weekend of good luck gave us the chance to run out front. We have a ton of work to do to get ready for Mid-Ohio in a couple weeks and our schedule is extremely busy. We truly want to go there and get things dialed in one last time before the RUNOFFS and have a bunch of tracks to visit before that. Once again my Goodyear Tires stayed with me the entire race and Ron Roland of R Sport helped us with the set-up.
