Huffmaster Racing Scores Dual Poles And Victories at ARRC

The Dream Season for Huffmaster Racing just continues to get better and better. Huffmaster Racing recently attended the November 9th - 11th SCCA American Road Race of Champions event held at Road Atlanta. Entered was Ray Huffmaster in the ITU class Mazda RX-8 and Rob Huffmaster in the ITS class Mazda RX-7. Both Mazdas were entered in the sprint and enduro events.

For Qualifying, there was none better than Huffmaster Racing. Ray and Rob set pole postion for both the sprint and enduro races.

For the Sprint race, Huffmaster Racing came through with flying colors. Rob Huffmaster survived a tough ITS field to win in with the Mazda RX-7. Ray Huffmaster battled through electrical problems to secure the victory in ITU.

"Huffmaster Racing attended last year's ARRC, and we really enjoyed it. We were very excited after qualifying 1st in both classes for both races. To come into the event and accomplish two victories in the sprint race was amazing." - states Rob Huffmaster

In Sunday's Enduro, Huffmaster racing was forced to make the unfortunate decision of withdrawing the ITS Mazda driven by Rob. This left Ray as the sole entry in the 3 hour event. The mechanical gremlins that plagued the RX-8 continued in the enduro. Eventually the wiring problem was located, and Ray sailed to a calm 2nd place in the event.

"It's a shame what happened to the RX-7. I am sure Rob would have been in contention to claim 1st place. In the end though, we can hardly complain about a top place in ITU." - states Ray Huffmaster

The ARRC wraps up the racing season for Huffmaster Racing. This event though does not mark the end of Rob's race season. Rob will be picking up some extra seat time in the upcoming December 1st Thunderhill 25 Hours event sanctioned by NASA.

From there Rob Huffmaster will return to California in the winter for the Mazda Shootout at Buttonwillow Raceway later this year. The other four Mazda drivers invited all won SCCA National Championships at the 2007 SCCA Runoffs; Thomas Thrash Jr. (E Production), Jesse Prather (F Production), Brad Rampelberg (Spec Miata) and Jim Goughary Jr. (Formula Mazda).

All participants will be tested on their speed, data analysis, knowledge of chassis dynamics and PR prowess. The winner will receive a new Mazda MX-5 and MAZDASPEED parts kit valued at $50,000, to compete in the SCCA Pro Racing SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup.
