** Sports Car Club of America: Goodyear racers won 14 of the 24 races in the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. They also won 33 podium finishes.
The Runoffs crown national champions in each of the SCCA's national classes and two Goodyear drivers made history with their championship runs. Joe Huffaker became only the 12th driver in Runoffs history to win two championships in the same year and John Heinricy lapped the entire field to win the Touring 1 race. SCCA officials said they were unaware of a previous Runoffs winner lapping the field.
The other Goodyear winners included Jeff Winter (G Production), John Heinricy (Touring 1), Kyle Krisiloff (Formula Ford), Brad Stout (Formula Vee), Jamie Houseman (GT 4), Duane Davis (GT2), Brian Kelm (T2), Andy McDermid (A Sedan), Larry Connor (Formula Atlantic), Pete Peterson (GT3), Pratt Cole (E Production), Mike Anderson (Formula Continental).
Huffaker won in F Production and GT 5. He used Goodyear D0805 tires on his car in each race and said using the same tires on two different cars helped him prepare.
"It's nice to be testing on one car and be able to apply it to the other, said Huffaker. "The tires were stable as ever. I was very happy with the tires, as ever."
Heinricy's record-setting victory came under extremely wet conditions. "Goodyear provided an awesome rain tire," said Heinricy. "I'd run Goodyear rain tires before and I knew it would be perfect and today the car was perfect."
