Team Dynamics Pro Rally USA withdraw from tragic Oregon Trail Rally.
The Team Dynamics Pro Rally USA team of Welshman Julian Reynolds and co-driver Duncan McMath withdrew from last weekend's Oregon Trail round of the SCCA Pro Rally, following the devastating news of the deaths of Subaru Rally Team USA crew Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman on the event.
The fatal accident on the opening stage of the Oregon based event brought about the cancellation of the opening test, with Reynolds and McMath immediately withdrawing from the event after learning of the tragic news.
McMath's involvement within the USA series was sparked by a conversation with long time friend Lovell in 2002, with Duncan bringing both Jonny Milner and Julian Reynolds over to the series after frequent discussions with the respected former British Rally Champion.
McMath had worked closely with Lovell when the Somerset driver had driven a Toyota GB run Celica GT-4 in the 1990's. Reynolds, from Narberth, and McMath knew Lovell and Freeman well after many years involvement within the sport, making the events of the weekend all the more difficult to come to terms with:
"Our thoughts and sympathies are with both Mark and Roger's family and close friends at this dreadful time" said Duncan. "It was Mark who first persuaded me to come over to the USA to sample the excellent rallying that the SCCA Pro Rally series has to offer. The connections between Mark and our own Team Dynamics Pro Rally USA were also close on event with our car being rented from Prodrive, who also ran the Subaru USA cars.
On behalf of everyone involved with Team Dynamics rallying exploits both in the UK and the USA, we extend our most sincere condolences to Subaru USA, Prodrive, the SCCA Pro Rally organisers, and everyone who had the privilege to work with Mark and Roger before their deeply tragic accident."
Team Dynamics Pro Rally USA will return to rallying in the USA when they feel it is appropriate to do so.
