PHOENIX, Ariz.- (April 21, 2001) - Barney Moen, of Hesperia, Calif., won Saturday's Pro Spec Racer race from the pole at Phoenix International Raceway for his first-ever career win. James Goughary Jr., of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Neil Tilbor of, New Smyrna Beach, Fla. rounded out the top three.

Driving the No. 5 Moen Racing Spec Racer, Moen captured his first career Pro Spec Racer win by 0.273 seconds. In a race where Seainn Hendricsen, No. 11 H-Square Racing Spec Racer, all but took the checkered flag before losing a gear late in the race, Moen managed to take advantage of the situation.

"This feels damn good," said Moen. "These are some of the best drivers and the best guys around in racing. Now it looks like I'll have to give some more thought to running the entire Pro Spec Racer series."

Goughary Jr., in the No. 29 Ducksmart.com Spec Racer, captured his 13th career top-three finish in his seventh year in the series. Goughary Jr. led midway through the race, moved up consistently with help from the caution flags and held on for a second place finish.

"I think the weather had a little to do with how we ran today," said Goughary Jr. "I was happy when the first yellow came out because of our 11th place staring position and it really helped us move back up though the field. The funny thing is, I usually have terrible luck when the caution flag flies, but today it worked in my favor."

In the No. 8 Taiyo Edge R/C Spec Racer, Tilbor claimed his 16th career top-three finish in a race where he started ninth.

"I was surprised as hell to finish where we did because we were so far off the pace in practice and qualifying," said Tilbor.
