After a challenging weekend, Paul Fix took the #77 Classic Tube Ford Mustang to 16th place in Houston on Saturday afternoon. However, it was a testament to the teamwork of Fix Motorsports and Crew Chief Gary Johnson that the #77 Mustang made it to the grid at all.
After a successful practice session on Friday, the #77 car clipped the wall exiting turn three and sustained heavy front end damage. The Fix Motorsports team worked long hours through the night on Friday to repair the #77 Mustang and get back on track.
After inclement weather canceled qualifying, the starting grid was established using championship points and Paul started 19th. The race was filled with many incidents and crashes, however, Paul stayed focused and continued gaining positions throughout. After a strong performance, rookie Paul Fix took the checkered flag in 16th position.
Paul Fix II - "It was a great race and I want to thank my team for their hard work to get me back on the track. We were strong in practice on Friday and knew that it was important to stay clean on this street course and gain a solid finish, which is what we did. "
The Houston Trans Am Race will air on Speedvision: October 13th, Speedvision 2 - 3:30 pm.
