TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 13, 2004) -- SCCA Pro Racing announced the remainder of the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires® Pacific Tour 2004 schedule today. The full season Pacific Tour schedule will include event weekends at Phoenix International Raceway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Portland International Raceway.
The Miata Cup Pacific Tour kicks off the 2004 season with two races at Phoenix International Raceway April 3-4. The Pacific Tour will headline the "Fifth Annual Spring Racing Invitational to Benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital."
The series heads for the beautiful Monterey peninsula and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca April 30-May 2. As part of the "Road & Track Invitational," the Pacific Tour will run two races.
Portland International Raceway will host the Pacific Tour for two races July 23-25. The Pacific Tour will be part of a weekend that will feature the SCCA SPEED World Challenge and American Le Mans Series in its return to the Pacific Northwest.
With today's announcement, both the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Pacific and Atlantic Tours' 2004 schedules are now complete.
The Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Atlantic Tour opens the 2004 campaign in Northern Georgia with two races at Road Atlanta the weekend of April 24-25. The Miata Cup Atlantic Tour will take part in the inaugural Road Atlanta Formula Drift® event weekend that includes two non-points SPEED World Challenge Touring Car races, the Formula Ford Zetec Championship, SCCA Pro-IT series and a Mazda Extreme Street import car show.
Nearly one month later, the series travels north of the border to for two races on the 10-turn, 2.459-mile circuit at Mosport International Raceway May 22-23.
The Atlantic Tour will be part of the SPEED World Challenge and Busch North Memorial Day weekend lineup at historic Lime Rock Park May 28-31. Scheduled to run two races, it will be the second-straight trip to Lime Rock Park for the Atlantic Tour.
As part of another SPEED World Challenge and American Le Mans Series race weekend, the Miata Cup Atlantic Tour will travel to the serene hills of middle Ohio to tame the 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course June 25-27 in Lexington.
