TOPEKA, Kan. (March 28, 2003) -- SCCA Pro Racing today announced bonus programs from Mazdaspeed, Sunoco Race Fuel, Racetech Racing Communications and Hankook Tires for the 2003 Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires season

Mazdaspeed, the series' title sponsor, is offering bonus money to the top-three finishers in each event, worth $400, $200 and $100 respectively.

The Hankook Tires program rewards race winners with four free tires. The second- and third-place finishers receive three and two tires, respectively. In addition, the pole winner receives a certificate for one free tire.

Sunoco, the Official Fuel of SCCA Pro Racing, is awarding the Sunoco Hard Charger Award, with the competitor who makes up the most positions during a race receiving a certificate toward the purchase of Sunoco fuel.

Racetech Racing Communications, the Official Communications Supplier of SCCA Pro Racing, is offering a product certificate of $250 to the race winner, as well as an additional $250 certificate if the winner started from the pole.

"Added to the previously-announced $100,000 season payout, these bonus awards are a big plus for competitors," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "We're also happy that Hankook's involvement in the Pro Series has translated into a Club Racing program as well."

Hankook Tires' SCCA Club Racing National and Regional contingency programs will be announced at a later date.

The Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires will make its North American Championship debut April 5-6 at Phoenix International Raceway. The weekend will also feature events from the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship, Pro Spec Racer, Formula SCCA and the new Sports Racing Pro Series, with each series running races on both Saturday and Sunday.
