SEATTLE, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- LizardTech Inc., the Seattle-based leader in imaging technologies and telecommunications infrastructure software, today announced it is sponsoring a team to compete at Bremerton Raceway in the Northwest Region of the Sports Car Club of America (NWR-SCCA) Solo 2 National Tour, one of the biggest amateur motorsport events on the West Coast. For the 2000 season, LizardTech will field a team to compete in the regional and national SCCA Solo 2 series. The team will participate in events sanctioned by the NWR-SCCA, the Western Washington Sports Car Council and Bremerton Sports Car Club. The team's drivers are Michael Lee and Jake Russell, both of whom work for LizardTech. The car that is being fielded is a 1999 Dodge Neon ACR (American Club Racer) coupe. ACR cars are Dodge's competition-spec, turnkey racecars. The car has been prepared specifically to conform to the rules for the extremely tough D-stock class for SCCA events and in Stock-D for the WWSCC events. Last Sunday in Vancouver, B.C., in its inaugural race under LizardTech sponsorship, the team took home trophies for first and second place. The team also placed third overall in the West Coast Can-Am Championship. "We are very excited to have the opportunity to support the interests of our employees as well as to promote the name and reputation of the company," said John Grizz Deal, LizardTech's president and CEO. Solo 2 is the SCCA brand name for autocross competition. Solo 2 events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling through a course designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location, such as a parking lot or inactive airstrip. The schedule for upcoming events Team LizardTech will be competing in on the Western Washington Sports Car Council's Web site at: http://www.wwscc.org/calendar.html .
