CENTENNIAL, Colo. (October 9, 2002) - The Sports Car Club of America, Inc. (SCCA) has announced that Mike Dickerson, of Frankfort, Ky., will be its new Regional Activities Manager, replacing Sue Roethel, who will step down when the company moves to Topeka, Kan. November 15.
The current Regional Executive and Membership Chairman of the Central Kentucky Region, Dickerson joins the National Staff from the Kuhlman Electric Corporation, where he has served as Sales Director for the last three years.
"As with some of our other recent hires, Mike is a current SCCA leader on a regional level, and will bring his knowledge and understanding of how our regions are structured and what their specific needs are", said Steve Johnson, SCCA, Inc. President and CEO. "This is a very important position in the National office, as it is our direct link with the 109 SCCA Regions."
"The professional challenge is one that I cannot ignore," said Dickerson. In working with the Regional Executives and management of all the SCCA regions, I am looking forward to helping them cultivate and groom new members of our rapidly growing organization for future leadership roles. I have had the occasion to meet some of the newest and youngest members of our club, and I have found a crop of intelligent, active and enthusiastic individuals who will become great leaders."
Dickerson has been an active SCCA member since 1990, holding National Flagging & Communications, Club Racing Competition, Divisional Steward and Solo II® Safety Steward Licenses. Additionally, he has held many leadership roles in the California Sports Car Club, North Carolina and Central Kentucky Regions, including Membership Chairman, Editor, Activities Chair and Regional Executive.
A graduate of California Polytechnic University with a BS in Finance and Law, Dickerson will assist the Director of Customer Service in coordinating and developing regional programs, activities, long-term goals and other developmental activities. Dickerson will produce the publication RENews and serve as liaison to the Editor of SportsCar magazine and SCCA merchandise provider Bear Promotions.
Dickerson will work alongside Roethel in the position before taking over all responsibilities when the headquarters moves to Kansas, November 15.
"We thank Sue Roethel for her great work in the National office over the last several years, and look forward to seeing her on race weekends across the country as she continues her activities within Club Racing on a regional level," said Johnson.
Dickerson and his fiancée Cindy will be relocating to the Topeka area in the next month.
