DENINO SELECTED TO COMPETE IN VW JETTA TDI CUP

I am very pleased to announce that I will be competing in the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup. The Jetta TDI Cup is a Volkswagen factory backed series in which all 30 of the cars competing in the eight races throughout the season will be maintained and managed by Volkswagen of America. All of the cars in the series will utilize a 2.0L TDI clean diesel engine and a 6-speed double clutch DSG gearbox. The Jetta TDI Cup series is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Pro Racing Inc., and will be the first North American racing series to feature all-diesel powered race vehicles. I am extremely excited to be a part of this ground breaking program and am especially thrilled to be a part of the program's debut season in North America.

The 30 drivers were hand picked at a selection event held this past weekend at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix Arizona. According to Mr. Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO, Volkswagen of America, Inc., "Through an exhausting driver evaluation process, we looked at a variety of factors including driving ability and potential, media and communication skills and overall fit, to choose the 30 best drivers to help promote Volkswagen and the introduction of our all-new 50-state clean diesel Jetta TDI, and ultimately themselves."

Volkswagen hosted a tremendous event which included championship drivers and engineering talent from Europe. It was great to see the passion, knowledge, and dedication of the Volkswagen instructors, mechanics, and staff who were a part of the program.

After having driven the Jetta TDI Cup race car on track, I had a much greater understanding of the cars characteristics and was thoroughly impressed with the performance of the four cylinder clean diesel engine, as well the rapid and seamless shifts executed by the double clutch DSG gearbox.

All eight of the Jetta TDI Cup races will be televised on SPEED channel. A one hour documentary covering the series will also air on SPEED channel at the conclusion of the season. The first event of the season is in a few short weeks at Virginia International Raceway in Alton Virginia April 25-27.

This is a tremendous achievement for me personally and for my racing career. This will also be my first time competing as a professional driver. I have to thank all of the people who have helped me over the past six years. This has been an amazing journey so far and I could not have achieved it without the help of the dozens of people who have touched my life. I would like to give a special thanks to my family, Barnes Paving, Triple Jeah, PitFit Training, and the Skip Barber Racing School for their support.
