Lexington, Ohio - Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Motorcity True Performance Dodge Viper, finished a difficult eighth in round nine of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am for the BFGoodrich Cup race at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course.

From the drop of the green flag, Archer settled into second place conserving the Dodge Viper to make a run at the end. Then on lap 29, the car developed a crack in the header which robbed the engine of horsepower and sent fumes into the cockpit.

Struggling with a car that was down on power, the lap times of the Duluth, Minnesota resident began to rise by some three seconds. To top it off the heat from the header affected the power steering making it difficult to hold off the rushing field. Despite the adversity, Archer was able to bring the Cinjo Racing Dodge Viper home in eighth.

Tommy Archer, #36 Cinjo Racing/Motorcity True Performance/Dodge Viper: "We were running great in second, I had settled into a nice rhythm. The car was competitive up until about lap 29, then the header broke and it felt like we were running a seven cylinder. The header affected the power steering, then on the last couple of laps the brakes began to really fade. It was a tough day; we needed something a little better after Road America.

Joe Tranchida, owner Cinjo Racing: "The race looked good at the beginning and then it started to go down hill. We had a laundry list of items happening with the car. Any other driver probably would have given up, but Tommy did an excellent job to nurse the car home in eighth."

The Mid-Ohio race will be televised on Speedvision on Saturday, September 1 at 1:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
