Sonoma, CA October 15, 2000 - Peter Zarcades finished the 2000 American City Racing League season in true Champion fashion. Although he had clinched the Super Sports 2000 Drivers Championship title in the previous day's race, Zarcades took pole position in his Team Las Vegas Swift and ran away from the field in the race, winning wire-to-wire with a 21 second victory margin. The only driver with a shot at keeping him honest was Team Hollywood's Fiorenzo Tirinnanzi aboard a Carbir. Tirinannzi stayed with Zarcades for the first two race laps after qualifying within a tenth of a second of Zarcades' pole time, but a spin in Turn Two dropped Tirinnanzi back to seventh place. He recovered to finish fifth, passing Team San Diego's Margie Smith-Haas' Falcon three laps from the checker. After Tirinannzi's spin, Fresno's Steve Romak (Carbir) settled into a lonely second place. Behind him, his teammate John Ostlund (Fresno, Carbir) staged a race-long duel with Team Las Vegas driver Brad Pierce (Carbir), who had gotten married the Friday before the race. Ostlund prevailed at the end, and the two drivers exchanged congratulations on the cool-off lap. Marvin Jones (Denver, Carbir) took seventh in the SS2 class, and Dave Jansen (Salinas, Lola) finished eighth, securing his SS2 Rookie of the Year title. Jansen's run was all the more remarkable because he was shifting with no clutch due to a faulty slave cylinder. Sandra Popescu (Salinas, Swift) finished up a dismal weekend with a mechanical failure four laps into the race.

The big drama of the race was the battle for the Aerocell Sports 2000 Championship. The seesaw struggle for domination between David Ferguson (Salinas, Swift) and Michael Scully (Las Vegas, SR71) went down to the wire, and Scully had a one-point advantage at the green flag. However, Ferguson had the pole and a new qualifying record, and he was primed for victory. Ferguson got the jump on the start, and gradually pulled away from Scully, building a 7.223 second margin by the checkered flag. The victory gave Ferguson the S2 title by a mere six points, as well as S2 Rookie of the Year honors. Jeff Littrell (Denver, Swift) finished third yet again, and vowed on the podium to improve that situation next season. His teammate Doug Ota brought his Swift home fourth, but Denver lost the team points lead after handing on to it for seven races. Zarcades' win from the pole, combined with Pierce's fourth and Scully's eighth, gave Las Vegas both the race team win and the 2000 season City Team Championship.

Paul Schroeder was the lone Sports 1600 entrant, and he dropped out with a blown clutch on lap 11. However, his effort netted him third in the season points for the Sports 1600 class to claim a nice portion of the TRD-sponsored points fund.

The American City Racing League Western Division, using a unique team racing concept, races Cosworth-powered Super Sports 2000, Aerocell-sponsored Sports 2000, and Toyota-powered Sports 1600 cars, with drivers required to run Hoosier ACRL-stamped R-45 compound tires and Union 76 110 octane Racing Fuel.
