Johnny Kanavas To Make SPEED World Challenge Debut With Tindol Motorsports At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Laguna Niguel, CA (09.07.05): Mazdaspeed Miata Cup veteren, Johnny Kanavas will be making his SPEED World Challange debut with Tindol Motorsports at the Monterey Sports car Championships, Oct. 14-16.
Kanavas will pilot the #97 Sparco USA/Oakley/eprodius.com Mazda Protege of Tindol Motorsports at the finale round of the series alongside teammate and Round 10 winner, Charles Espenlaub. "I am extremely excited for this opportunity. Driving in the SPEED World Challenge Series has been a goal of mine for quite some time. I am very grateful to Chris Tindol for making it happen." says Kanavas. "Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks, so I am really looking forward to it."

Southern Californian, Johnny Kanavas' driving resume ranges from go-karts to vintage racing to Spec Miata competition. Winner of the Atlanta Vintage Grand Prix, Kanavas has piloted, Corvettes, Porsches, Mustangs and more in vintage races across the country. In 2003, Johnny brought home two podium finishes in the inaugural season of the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires along with a top-10 championship finish. Kanavas is also the 2005 Pacific Nights Endurance Champion, and a professional driving instructor for TrackTime, Inc. Johnny has also been working with the Circuit City/Protomotive SWC Touring Car team throughout 2004 & '05 and is one of their team drivers, piloting their Spec Miata in west coast endurance and club races, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
Round 11 of the SPEED World Challenge Series will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in Monterey, CA, Oct. 16. and will be broadcast on SPEED, Oct. 16, 3:00pm (EST).
