Sensational! Thomas' debut in Speedcar Series in Bahrain

He will replace injured Johansson

January 20th 2009 - Thomas Biagi is flying now to Bahrain, called at the last minute to replace injured Stephan Johansson - previous Ferrari F1 driver - and will take part to the second round of emerging SpeedCar Series Championship. This is dedicated to vehicles in a perfect american "stock- car" style, so powerful bus less sophisticated in electronic devices. True monsters that can develop horsepower higher than 620 (that the driver has to manage without any "traction control") thanks to a 6 litres / 8 "V" cilinders engine assembled on a pipes - chassis with Fiberglass auto body.

The new adventure of the Italian driver will begin on Thursday, with the car #7 of Palm Beach Team, on Bahrain International Circuit (Persic Gulf) during the last session of free proofs. Green light for the first race on Friday (12.30 Italian time) and second race planned for Saturday at 12.00.

After 5 years of happy "cohabitation" with various drivers, it will be the first covered wheels race where he will be standing alone in the cockpit. He will be facing with very important drivers like previous F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve, Heinz Herald Frentzen, Ferrari driver Jean Alesi, and Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi and Gianni Morbidelli.

"Thanks to Claudio Berro, General manager of Speedcar Series, and to the other co-ordinators for this good opportunity - sais Thomas Biagi. I will give my best, to pay back their faith in me, even though it won't be aesy: I'm not used to the car, for sure so much different from FIA GT ones and I will have just a few time to go in deep its secrets. I'm sure that it will be a beautiful experience and we'll have fun!".
