Zoechling celebrates breakthrough!

In the fourth round of the Speedcar Series at the Dubai Autodrome, Christopher Zoechling proved why he is Austria's up and coming motorsport talent. The Dubai-based driver made himself the best present to his 21st birthday, starting from Pole and finishing second in the race, just beaten by former F1 star Jean Alesi.

Already in qualifying the rookie showed his true speed and kept his cool to place his racer on pole in his final stint. Zoechling was so fast that most veterans put down a protest, claiming he had cut the curbs at some stage. However, these allegations were rubbished by the race stewards and the youngster earned himself pole as well as a USD 10.000 cheque.

In the first race of the weekend, experienced Alesi surprised Zoechling at the start, but no other opponent managed to overtake the Austrian. The 21-year-old showed great matureness fighting off all approaches from behind. Instead, he kept attacking the leading Frenchman and crossed the finish line only five tenths of a second behind winner Alesi at the end of the 40 minute-race

"Unfortunately, I verpennt the start, otherwise, I could have won. But finishing second behind Jean Alesi is not bad either. I am looking forward to tomorrow's race. I will definitely go for a podium finish again", the Zoechling said.

The modest Austrian thanked his "team who were amazing in this run. My setup was brilliant and with such a car you can only be fast." So today, driver Christopher could celebrate with his father Heinz, who functioned as the chief mechanic for the race!
