"The season opener was both promising and unlucky. Therefore, I want to strike back in Sakhir," the 20-year-old talent presented himself pugnaciously. At the first racing weekend in Dubai early December Zoechling was third in Qualifying and in second spot in the race, when Gianni Morbidelli hit him from behind.

The new hero of the Dubai fans managed to finish the race in a heavily damaged car, but scored no points. "The accident was annoying and the Race Stewards criticised the aggressive manoeuvres after the race. But my car was great and the team did an awesome job, so I am very optimistic for Bahrain," Zoechling said.

The youngster is not worried about his duel with team mate Jacques Villeneuve. "Jacques and I get along really well. In Dubai I was quite a bit faster than him and would have finished ahead without the accident." Villeneuve was eighth in qualifying, Zoechling third. However, the Canadian crossed the finish line in sixth after a rather unspectacular race.
