Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup Makes New Jersey Debut

27 Aug 2008-(Tooele, UT)--Everything is new this weekend when the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge stages round six of the 2008 championship as part of the first-ever professional race weekend at the freshly-built New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey. The Mustang Challenge event will be part of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series and KONI Challenge race weekend on New Jersey Motorsports Park's "Thunderbolt" course.

The race weekend marks the second consecutive Mustang Challenge race in New England after round five's Lime Rock Park race just two weeks in the rear view mirror, where Terry Borcheller took a second series victory with championship leader Adrew Caddell coming home a close second. The 2008 inaugural championship season will conclude on September 21 with a double-header at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

New Jersey Motorsports Park "Thunderbolt" circuit is a 2.25-mile 14-turn natural terrain road course which will be new to all the Ford Mustang drivers, setting the stage for yet another competitive race outing as none of the drivers enters the weekend with a home court advantage.

The New Jersey race weekend entry list boasts a pair of Mustang Challenge newcomers with Pete Crosby of Winchester, Virginia entered in the No. 64 CRO-PRO Ford Mustang FR500S, as Gunter Schladach teams with StableOne Racing in the No. 2 machine.

The full field is expected to participate in Thursday's promoter test day, which will give the Mustang racers a high-speed view of the track in advance of practice and qualifying, with the 45-minute race slated for 4:15 PM ET on Sunday.

Results and story to be posted at www.MustangChallenge.com.

The Ford Mustang FR500S driven by Mustang Challenge racers rolls right off the same production line as the Ford Mustangs you see on the road every day, and can be ordered from any Ford dealer across the country.

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup is a new professional racing series co-developed by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports Park. Utilizing the new Ford Mustang FR500S and sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, the Mustang Challenge series is a support series to major professional road racing events across North America. A competitive point structure and generous purses make the Mustang Challenge the perfect affordable, challenging platform for racers who want to compete in a V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive car on a level playing field that will showcase driver ability in high-profile events.
