SAE COLLEGE BMW -- SHEER DRIVING PLEASURE AT THE MOUNTAIN
Welcome to the first press release of the year for the SAE College BMW Production Car Team. In what will be an action packed year for David Searle Motorsport and the SAE College BMW Production Car Team, the team are ready to head off to the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour Production Car Race being held at the world renowned Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit on the 6-8th of April.
The vehicle of choice for this ultimate production car test is the tried and trusty BMW 130i and driving for the team are Luke Searle and Peter Kelly. Both drivers have been regularly completing in the BMW 130i's for over a year and this will be their ultimate long distance test. Up against some of the best names in the sport and in their class including Richards, Moffat, Pretty and Perkins, the SAE College BMW Production Car Team are determined to win their class and fight for any outright positions available before 5:45pm on Sunday the 8th of April.
At last count - 36 entries had been posted. The driver list is almost the who's who of Australian and International Motorsport with WRC regular Chris Atkinson returning from the Rally de Portugal for the big race, along with Channel Seven superstar Grant Denyer, Neil Crompton, Jack Elsegood and John Bowe just to name a few.
The SAE College BMW Production Car Team will be running their top of the range 1-Series 2006 BMW 130 in Class 3 -- APCC Hot Hatches. With an in-line 6 cylinder producing 195kw at 6,600rpm and 315Nm of torque at 2,750rpm and a maximum speed of 250km/h they will be hard to beat at the WPS Bathurst 12hr.
