RPM Aceleracion Readies for the Gua-Sal Finale at El Jabali in El Salvador on October 3rd.
Guatemala City, Guatemala, September 23, 2004---After a brief shake-down at the Autodromo Los Volcanes, RPM Aceleracion is ready for the second and final round of the Gua-Sal at the El Jabali Circuit in El Salvador. Round one of the 2004 Guatemala versus El Salvador GT Sports Car race (Gua-Sal) was held in May at the Autodromo Los Volcanes in Guatemala. The annual Gua-Sal series is the most prestigious racing series in Central America and attracts drivers from all over the world. RPM Aceleracion will be fielding a 2001 Porsche GT3 Cup car in the Modificato class with Rolex Grand-Am Series driver, Andrew Alfonso driving. Alfono is an official driver of Grease Monkey Racing, where he finished sixth in the SGS class at the six-hours of the Glen in June. Alfonso is no stranger to racing in Central America, having won many 125cc Shifter Kart races for RPM and JM Racing in Guatemala and El Salvador in 2003 and 2004.
RPM Aceleracion is currently in second place in the Gua-Sal, having finished second and fourth in the hands of Grease Monkey Racing's Gene Sigal in round one. The races are two heats, each being 15 laps long. El Jabali is a 2 mile, 12 turn FIA track in El Salvador. Testing at El Jabali begins Monday September 27, with official practice and qualifying beginning on Friday.
