Podium parity continues in The Stuttgart Cup at Autobahn Country Club

Four drivers in three Porsche Caymans take victories

A full weekend of racing in Round 2 of The Stuttgart Cup™ at Autobahn Country Club, June 5 – 7, produced a total of four race-winning drivers in three different Porsche Cayman S race cars in the competitive kick-off event of the track’s 2014 ALM Positioners/Autobahn Endurance Series.

Taking top honors in the Pro-Am division, and finishing a solid second overall in Saturday’s featured 3.5-hour Enduro, was Tom Bloom (in photo, from a previous race) in his No. 16 Porsche Cayman S prepared by Bilt Racing Service. Bloom has been a winning Cayman competitor the last few seasons but Saturday’s victory, co-driving with Ryan Osiecki, was his first in Stuttgart Cup competition.

Bloom shared the Pro-Am podium with Ron Rashinski, John Lewis and Jeffrey Chelepis who co-drove to runner-up honors while finishing third overall. The second-place Enduro result capped a great weekend for Rashinski in his blue and yellow No. 6 Cayman S that carries the livery of the famous Sunoco/Penske Porsche 917-30. Rashinski also won Friday’s weekend-opening sprint and captured the pole in the qualifying sessions for that race and Saturday’s Enduro.

Sportsman honors in the Enduro went to Stuttgart Cup newcomer Rodrigo Sales who solo drove to the class victory in his black No. 88 Cayman S inspired by the Jägermeister Porsche race cars. Sales was making only his second series start after debuting in April in The Mitty at Road Atlanta.

Second in Sportsman in the Enduro went to Bill Riddell who co-drove his black and white-striped No. 05 Cayman S with Brad McCall.

Keith Faver rounded out the Sportsman top-three in the Enduro in his No. 25 Gulf/Wyer Porsche-themed Cayman S. Faver also finished second in the Friday sprint, in between third-place finisher Sales and race winner Rashinski.

Next up for The Stuttgart Cup™ and its sister series, the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo, is a return to Road Atlanta for Round 3 of the 2014 calendar, July 26 – 27. Additional races this year include Pocono Raceway, August 14 – 17, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, September 19 – 21, and what have become traditional season-ending races at Savannah Hutchinson Island (October 24 – 26), Daytona International Speedway (November 12 – 16) and Sebring International Raceway (December 4 – 7).

Both The Stuttgart Cup™ and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo are managed by Americas Cup GT L.L.C. Both championships are sprint and endurance series with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Rules for both series are centered on power to weight ratio. All competing Stuttgart Cup cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
