Picchio Take Aim at Vallelunga

It is now confirmed that the participation of a Picchio SR2 car in the Six Hours of Vallelunga, to be held next week-end on the race track in Lazio, central Italy is definite.

This is a classic of endurance racing in Italy, and the SR2 will race with a Jaguar engine. This power plant was used in other races of the Italian Prototypes Championship, where it certainly showed its potential, but is unusual for an endurance competition. The main purpose is to try out the engine on a longer race and under more demanding conditions.

The car was prepared specifically for this race by modifying several parts, so as to enhance reliability while retaining performance. The drivers at the wheel will be Pierluciano Giovannini, at his second race with the Picchio car this year after Magione, Michele Maceratesi, back on the track after a victory at the Pirelli Finale of the Ferrari Challenge at the Mugello track and Ercole Mores from Formula Renault 2000. The last two are in a Picchio prototype for the very first time.
