NASA National Championships This Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (September 10, 2009) -- One of the top three amateur sports car races in North America is taking place at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend, September 10-13, as the National Auto Sports Association (NASA) holds its National Championship races in Utah for the first time.

More than 350 cars from all across the United States in a variety of classes, ranging from Mazda Miatas to fire-breathing Corvettes and stock cars, have converged on Miller Motorsports to determine who is the best of the best.

The battles will be settled on the ultra-fast 3.048-mile Outer Course, with action getting underway Thursday morning. Practice and qualifying sessions and qualifying races will run on Thursday and Friday, with the National Championship races taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

"We are very happy to be hosting the NASA National Championships this weekend," said Mitch Wright, Director of Racing for Miller Motorsports Park. "This is a very prestigious event in the world of amateur sports car racing, and we look forward to welcoming racers from all across America to our track for the first time. The racing is going to be fantastic, and we hope the local fans will come out and enjoy it."

One special highlight of the weekend will take place on Saturday, when a gathering of Austin-Healey sports cars will visit the track. A group of Australians have recreated two very special Austin-Healey world land speed records cars from 1954; one a modified production car and one a special-bodied streamliner. These cars will return to the Bonneville Salt Flats next week, but will be on display at Miller Motorsports Park first, along with the Bonneville Austin-Healey Club.

Tickets for the NASA National Championship Races are priced at $6 on Saturday and Sunday. Friday admission is free to everyone, and kids 12 and under are free on Saturday and Sunday.
