A Not So Bad Qualifying Session But Andrea De Megni Climbs Up 5 Positions During The Race.

Andrea De Megni; Pakelo Racing sponsor car's driver, has returned home from the second round of the Maserati Trophy on legendary track of Spa with contradictory feelings. If things didn't work out well for him during the qualifying session, things went differently during the race. After the initial fragile stages at the start of the race,De Megni made a progressive climb from the 16th place on the grid to an 11th place finish. An important highlight of the race was the battle between De Megni, Mountain and Grimoldi who all fought for the 14th place. It was the Pakelo race car driver who succeeded in conquering that position with some spectacular surpasses at the beginning of the infamous Eau Rouge,

"The weekend didn't start off on a good note. I didn't do my best at the qualifying session on Saturday and I wasn't able to get beyond the 16th place. It may have been my lack of concentration that didn't allow me to comprehend the track and to find a good lap. Starting in the middle of the grid is definitely penalizing if you want to fight for the leading positions. I have become aware of how difficult it is to overtake slower drivers. Initially, I was very prudent because I didn't want to jeopardize the race seeing that it isn't difficult to get into a collision when you are in the middle. I worked really hard to overtake my opponents who were slower then I was. With a 7 km track and with only 14 laps to run, it becomes difficult to predict what the drivers will do at ever corner and it's hard to decide when the best moment is to overtake them.

In any case, I'm rather satisfied about my climb to the 11th place. At the next round, which will be on the same day as the Formula 1 race in Silverstone, I have to try to be in the front line on the grid to fight for the leading positions."
