Duarte Felix da Costa signs for GT OPEN on a Ferrari 430
Duarte Felix da Costa signed today a deal with the Spanish team Roger Racing to drive a Ferrari 430 GTS on the competitive GT OPEN. The Portuguese driver that completes this year 15 years of career will have as team mate the Spanish driver Miquel Julià and the first race of the season will be already next weekend at Imola (Italy).
The deal between Duarte, leader of the PTCC (Portuguese Touring Car Championship) and the Spanish team Roger Racing was signed today, which let the driver from Cascais very happy with this last minute deal: "I am very satisfied with this opportunity, after all it shows that all our work and results have been watched by the main international teams. I believe a lot on this project and Roger racing offers me good conditions to fight for the best positions on GTS category. I want to show to the team that choosing me was the right decision and I will work hard in that way", said the 23 year old driver.
About the race of next weekend at Imola, first of the seven races of the GT OPEN, Duarte is confident but at same time conscientious about the difficulties that he will find: "Everything is new to me; car, circuit, team and championship so my aim on this first race is to get confident with the car and score the most possible points without taking any risks. After this at Algarve, on the second meeting then we will be aiming for podiums", said the Portuguese driver.
So, the driver managed by Sowhat will drive the Ferrari 430 with about 500 hp of the GTS category, on a championship that counts with about 40 cars. Friday will take place 2 free practice sessions. On Saturday will be the qualifying and first race and on Sunday the second race of the program.
The presence of the Portuguese driver on the rest of the PTCC calendar is not yet decided, being studied by Sowhat, his sponsors and his team Bastos Sport, but now Felix da Costa will dedicate priority to this new and important step on his racing career.
