Peterson continues Ferrari Challenge win streak.

BRASELTON, GA. May 11. Doug Peterson, driving his Ferrari 360 for the Shelton Sports Cars team, took his third consecutive win today at Road Atlanta. Peterson, who won the preceding two Ferrari Challenge races at Virginia International Raceway, qualified on pole position for the 30 minute race, and led all except one lap.

Darius Grala (Ferrari of Orange County) had qualified alongside Peterson and used his starting position to take the lead into Turn One. As the field completed its first lap Peterson repassed Grala, and never again lost the lead. Grala held second to the end, but Jose Luis Valera (Ferrari of Houston), Peter Greenfield (Ferrari of Orange County), Michael Pontoriero (Ferrari of Long Island) and Allie Ash (Ferrari of Washington) fought over third place for much of the race. Ash failed to finish, and the final order was Peterson, Grala, Greenfield, Pontoriero, and Valera in the top five positions.

The second Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend is scheduled for Sunday afternoon. As a result of his win Peterson will again start on pole, with Grala alongside.

The Ferrari Challenge for the Trofeo Pirelli is organized by Ferrari North America, and sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association.
