PETERSON WINS FERRARI CHALLENGE AT CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

(MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, June 12) Doug Peterson extended his championship lead in the 2005 Ferrari Challenge by winning the Ferrari Challenge race on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve today. Peterson defeated Emmanual Anassis, his Shelton Ferrari teammate, defending champion in the series, and the only other driver to win this year.

Peterson's margin of victory in the 30 minute race was approximately four seconds; at the same race in 2004 Anassis had defeated Peterson in a virtual dead heat, which required the Formula One cameras to resolve.

In qualifying Peterson had qualified on pole by almost a full second over Anassis, a Montreal native and favorite of the large and enthusiastic crowd. Kurt Buchwald, Bill Jennings II and Lawrence Stroll, another Montreal resident, completed the top five positions on the 27-car starting grid.

Buchwald finished third in the race, with Canadian Michael Louli and Joel Quaid rounding out the top five finishers.

Trophies for the race were presented to Peterson, Anassis, and Buchwald by Jean Todt, Ferrari's Managing Director and Formula One Team Principal, and Maurizio Parlato, President and CEO, Ferrari North America.

The Ferrari Challenge stays in Quebec Province for the next races, held as part of the Ferrari Festival at Le Circuit in Mont-Tremblant on June 24-26.

The Ferrari Challenge is organized by Ferrari/Maserati North America. Drivers compete in specially built racing versions of the Ferrari 360 Modena, with preparation and race support handled by teams formed by authorized Ferrari dealers in North America. Sponsorship and support for the series comes from Ener 1 Group, Motorola, Pirelli, Shell, and Bose.
