Max Mugelli returns to Vallelunga the Ferrari challenge almost a month after having a hernia removed from his back disc.

After getting the approval of his doctors who helped with his physiotherapy, Max surprised everyone on track by setting the sixth best time during qualifications. He was about one tenth away from the front row.

Then, unfortunately a technical problem during the sprint race made him drop down to the last place. In fact, right after the start Max had a slight contact with Belluzzi. The car didn't seem to have any damage but as time went by, Max realized that he had a problem with his battery. They will later discover that during the impact one of the connecting cables was partially unplugged and this caused the car to have a sudden decrease of electricity.

Max couldn't keep with the front line drivers due to this inconvenience and even had a spin. During the endurance race, Mugelli was forced to start second last. Although he was a few tenths faster than some of his opponents Max decided not to take any risks and to keep his ninth place till the finish line.

"It was really tough but I was able to cut the finish line in Vallelunga. I didn't have any problems with my back but I knew that I wasn't in tip top shape. The last 3 laps were hell. The pharmaceutical therapy necessary to help me recover after the surgery has decreased my resistance. However I am proud that i finished the race even if I was only ninth. Even if I missed out on a test session, I proved to be fast and as proof we have my sixth place in the qualifications.

It's a pity that I had a technical problem with the battery during the sprint race. Without that problem, I could have fought for the podium. I even had a spin because my gear suddenly went into neutral. At that point when there was only one lap left, I decided to be safe and to go the pit box. I didn't want to ruin the endurance race and so i preferred to bring the car in so it could be fixed. The endurance race was very tiring. My back didn't hurt but I didn't have very good resistance in the long run. I now have to get back into perfect shape for the final stage of the championship!"
