On August 20th, Max Mugelli underwent back surgery to remove a hernia on one of his discs. The Tuscan driver's participation on Sunday September 19th in Vallelunga for the Ferrari Challenge depended on the doctors who were helping him with his physiotherapy.

Yesterday, after running various and specific tests, Doctor Fabrizio Borra; a specialist at the Forli Mediwell Clinic gave Max Mugelli his approval to compete in the Vallelunga round.

"After this successful operation, I was still afraid that I couldn't participate in Vallelunga. It didn't seem like I'd have enough time to recuperate but I didn't lose hope. Day after day, I worked hard to complete the rehabilitation programme.

I like the Vallelunga track. I got a good result on this Roman track last year and so I was looking forward to being here again.

I need to thank myself for being so determined and above all ,I need to thank all the doctors who operated on me and who stayed by my side during my physiotherapy.A special thanks goes out to the Neurosurgeon Piero Conti of the CTO Hospital in Florence that did such a perfect job with my surgery and to doctor Fabrizio Borra who gave me permission to race again.

I haven't been in my Ferrari in two months while the others adversaries have had a few test sessions. So Vallelunga will be even more difficult for me. My objective? I've already reached one; to attend. Now, I just want to be able to finish both rounds without having any physical problems and possibly in the leading positions."
