Ferraris of every era in their natural habitat: Circuit Mont-Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant, June 18, 2006 Today was the second series of the Ferrari Challenge races. Once again leading the Challenge, 2006 champion Emmanuel Anassis seemed invincible. Two cars went off the track, slowing the drivers a little, but that did not prevent Anassis from winning handily. Lawrence Stroll experienced some mechanical problems and finished fourth.

Just as impressive in their own way, the divas of yesteryear put on a terrific show this afternoon. The Disk Brakes class was dominated again by the splendid 512 M, including the celebrated Sunoco.

Undoubtedly the most famous of all the Ferrari 512 M, the Sunoco was the sacred cow of its era. The blue 512 M that won for the second time this weekend was purchased in the 1970s by Kirk F. White, who signed an agreement with Sunoco (the plastics firm, not the gasoline company) to race the car.

Two powerful, aggressive Ferrari 275 GTBs were also on the track at the Circuit. Worthy descendants of the 250 GT four-door, their style, which may have seemed a bit dated when they first came out, today bears the mark of a timeless Ferrari classic.
