BATHURST 24-HOUR UPDATE - 21-HOUR REPORT

The Australian Holden Monaro is powering on in the lead in the Bathurst 24-hour race, with less than three hours to run.

At 1 pm, the Monaro with Cameron McConville driving had covered 468 laps, two more than the British Cirtek Porsche which has been driven by Brisbane's Darren Palmer for the past 1.5 hours.

There have been only six retirements in a surprising show of reliability by the production touring cars in the race.

The leaders are approaching the 3000 kms point at 483 laps. Allan Grice has just taken the seat in the Cirtek Porsche, leaving David Brabham set to take the final stint to the finish.

The race will finsih at 4 pm.
