MICHELIN TO RETURN AS OFFICIAL CONTROL TYRE SUPPLIER OF POSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE AUSTRALIA

FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL tender process, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge organizers are pleased to confirm that Michelin will return as the series official control tyre supplier for the 2009 racing season.

Michelin supplied tyres to Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge competitors during 2008 and will return in an expanded role as a sponsor and tyre supplier.

The new relationship continues in Australia the long running association between Porsche and Michelin in top level motorsport witnessed for years right around the world.

"We are very happy to be able to confirm that all competitors racing in the 2009 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge will do so on Michelin Tyres once again," Category administrator Jodi Zylstra said.

"There is a great deal of worldwide recognition between Porsche and Michelin and we're pleased to be able to continue that here. It is a great sign from Michelin that they are supporting us once again and we can't wait to work with them this season.

In addition, the GT3 Cup Challenge has also reached an agreement with The Mag Wheel Centre - suppliers of BBS Racing wheels - to become an official series supporter.

BBS Wheels will be present at each round of the 2009 Series with a trackside repair service to provide support to Michelin and also competitors who may suffer damage to rims during the course of a race weekend.

"Many of the teams competing in the Series are already customers of the Mag Wheel Centre, and we are pleased to be able to offer our services in conjunction with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge crew," said Peter West, director of the Mag Wheel Centre.

The new agreements see Michelin and BBS Wheels join McDonald's and Racer Industries as supporters of the 2009 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia series.

The first round will be contested between February 20 - 21, as part of the Bathurst 12 hour festival at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.
