KEMAL TOPS QUALIFYING

VIP Petfood's Paul Kemal has qualified fastest for Round 5 of the 2005 WPS Aussie Racing Cars Series at Oran Park Today.

In a closely fought qualifying session, in which only half a second separated the top ten, Kemal was only five hundredths quicker than Nick Simmons who will start along-side him on the front row for the first time. "The car is going good, it is a bit slippery out there but my times seem to be fast. It is great to get my first pole for the year, hopefully I can make the most of it tomorrow," Kemal said.

GRM's Simmons, although qualifying second, will change engines before Race 1 tomorrow.

"The car has been awesome. We made a few changes after practice and got it flying for qualifying. I broke a gear shift pin and have to change engines so hopefully the new one is fast," Simmons said.

Jeff Davy qualified third in his Australec Falcon stating:

"I am very happy, it is good to be up there with the bunch, although the track was pretty slippery. As long as we are in the top five it gives us a shot at it tomorrow." Davy said.

WPS Racing's Brad Lowe qualified fourth and is considered one of the favourites now that his broken collarbone has healed.

In his best qualifying session yet, Grove Fruit Juice's Phil Foster qualified fifth ahead of series hot-shot Tim Monte. The qualifying mix is sure to produce some exciting racing at a track perfect for the Aussie Racing Cars.
