“This alliance confirms and strengthens the CURC’s position as the most important and prestigious UTV rallycross series in North America,” said CURC President David Ivichek.

The first three editions of the Annual Grand Finale of the Canadian UTV Rallycross Championship will be held at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. Canada’s best UTV drivers will be in the Mauricie region to vie for the title of Canadian UTV rallycross champion.

“The racing circuit at Trois-Rivieres is an excellent place to host the Grand Finale. In addition to attracting more than 150,000 spectators to its events, the GP3R meets all the requirements with respect to the racing surface and infrastructures,” Ivichek added.

“This will be the first time that UTV drivers will be racing turbo or supercharged engines on the track, increasing their top speed from 110 km/h to 160 km/h and leading to even more action,” said Dominic Fugere, General Manager of the GP3R who rejoiced that the pilot-project of the GP3R 2015 has blossomed into a full time series. “We’re thrilled to be hosting the Annual Grand Finale of the CURC. Our goal is to make the event a success for everyone.

GP3R to feature Ken Block and Sebastien Loeb

The 2016 edition of the GP3R will be an impressive sight, featuring not only Sebastien Loeb (nine-time World Rally champion), but also Ken Block, social media sensation with his Gymkhana series videos and his rally and rallycross experience. Both drivers will be on hand to compete in the World Rally Championship at the GP3R.

What is CURC?

The CURC is a professional UTV rallycross competition established and organized by road racing driver David Ivichek, who switched to UTV rallycross, and rally veteran Thierry Menegoz. Its unique format, made up of spectacular short elimination heats, has everything to attract avid drivers and fans.

UTV rallycross truly brings together the best of all worlds: the precision of road circuit racing, techniques for controlling jumps and the adrenalin of sliding on dirt tracks. There are six planned races in the Championship. The partner race circuits confirmed for 2016 are the GP3R, Autodrome Granby, RPM Speedway and Mecaglisse.
