The O'Hagan's/Kopanong Hotel Superteam has suffered a late blow on the eve of the Queen Motor Spares Tarka 400, the penultimate round of the Bankfin Off-Road Championship, in the Eastern Cape this weekend.

Veteran Stratford Voogt, due to stand in for regular driver Paolo Piazza-Musso, has in turn had to cry off from sharing the O'Hagan's/Kopanong Hotel Superteam Jeep with Scott Abraham. A business trip to the Far East has forced Voogt to withdraw, while Piazza-Musso was forced to stand down because of a previous kart commitment.

Voogt's withdrawal means that another veteran, Richard Carolin, will now share the Jeep with young Abraham. Carolin has this season campaigned the O'Hagan's/Kopanong Hotel Raceco in Class S and will be having his first outing in the Jeep which will run in Class F of the Production Vehicle category in the Eastern Cape.

Carolin's step into the breach also means that young Abraham will have to wait to make his debut as a driver in the Bankfin Off Road Championship. He was scheduled to share driver/co-driver duties with Voogt, but Carolin is not comfortable with sitting in the co-drivers seat.

"I am a little disappointed in not getting a drive, but the main object is to come up with a good result," said Abraham. "Hopefully it won't be too long before I get to drive the Jeep in anger."

With a number of championship issues in the Production and Special vehicle categories shaping up to go all the way to the wire, the Queen Motor Spares Tarka 400 could be a make or break race for some title contenders. The final round of the series, the Carnival City Casino 400, will be held on the East Rand on November 29 and 30.
