IT'S TARGA TIME WITH DAVID HESKIN

With the start of 2006 Targa Tasmania nearly upon us, fans, officials and competitors will have the opportunity to follow the experiences of a first time Targa Tasmania competitor as car and crew prepare for their debut in the 15th anniversary event.

On the back of a successful 2005 season as the WRX Club of Victoria's Modified Champion and having just beaten two-thirds of the field at the Mt Buller Sprint, Melbourne-based David Heskin will be a fine act to follow as he embarks upon the journey of a lifetime as a Targa Tasmania debutant.

From Wednesday, March 1st, Heskin will be posting regular diary updates on the Targa Tasmania website www.targa.org.au that will put you in the backseat of one of the greatest preparation games in Australian rallying. Through Heskin's postings you will witness, first hand, the thoughts and experiences of a first time Targa Tasmania competitor leading up to, during and post the event.

Heskin and his Victorian navigator Ralph Perluzzo have entered in a former Subaru Show Car, a 2005 Subaru WRX STi Spec C recently purchased from Subaru Rally Team Australia.

>From March onwards Heskin's entries will be posted to the Targa Tasmania website every few days. Entries will be more frequent as the event approaches and will become daily for the duration of the competition.

With a strong passion for motor sport, Irish-born Heskin is now starting to realise his childhood dream of becoming a professional driver. Although still currently a privateer, Heskin looks at Targa Tasmania as an opportunity to further advance his passion and obsession for driving and expects to be well placed at the end of the event.

David Heskin will be one competitor to keep your eye on as he joins the list of 238 applications already received for the 15th anniversary Targa Tasmania, which starts in Launceston on April 25 2006.

Look out for "Targa Time with David Heskin" and his first diary entry on Wednesday 1st March.
