Per Eklund Swedish Champion
The final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship was no success for twelve time European Champion Kenneth Hansen. Kinnekulle Ring is his home circuit but it was not much help to him. He was the fastest in the qualification heats and he had the pole at the A-final. But then he was helped by his competitors already in the first corner to spin and the day was ruined.
The winner of the A-final was instead former Swedish Champion Michel Jernberg in a Ford Focus with the club mate Lasse Larsson, Skoda Fabia, on second place two seconds behind. Thomas Rådstrom, yesterdays Swedish Rally Champion, took the third place in spite of some frustrating technical problems on his Hyundai Accent nearly the entire season. Per Eklund was excluded from the A-final but was the new Swedish Champion simply by qualifying to the A-final.
In division 2 there was a hard battle in the A-final for the Championship gold medal. Per Gustafsson, Peugeot 206 RC was overtaken by Matthias Thorjesson in a Opel Astra after a close fight. His second place was enough for him to take the gold medal and Matthias the silver medal. Peter Hedstrom took his Renault Clio to a third place in the final but Jimmy Farsbo, Honda Civic, secured bronze even if he was excluded in the final.
