PRESENTATION OF THE SUBARU RALLY TEAM SPAIN
The presentation of the SUBARU RALLY TEAM SPAIN, was held on the evening of Friday the 6th of March in Suances (Cantabria), heralding the official start for the team that will represent Subaru Spain in the 2009 Spanish Gravel and Tarmac Championships.
The event was attended by the principal regional and local authorities, headed respectively by the Cantabrian President, D. Miguel Angel Revilla and the Mayor of Suances, D. Andres Ruiz Moya, together with, on behalf of the regional government, the counsellor for Tourism, Culture and Sport, D. Javier Lopez Marcano and, on behalf of Suances's corporation, the Councillor for Sports Dña. Rocio Herrera. Subaru Spain was also represented with the presence of General Manager, D. Carlos Espinosa, as was the Spanish Motorsport Federation in the person of D. Carlos Bertrand. Another important attendee in the world of Cantabrian sports was the President of Racing of Santander, D. Carlos Pernia, who followed the presentation attentively.
The different speeches from the members of the presidency was marked by the casual tone adopted by the Cantabrian President, who showed his satisfaction with the birth of this new rally team in the Spanish championships with two drivers from the region, which fully justifies the support of the Cantabrian community to Subaru Spain's line-up.
The sporting side of the presentation relied on the presence of the drivers Enrique Garcia Ojeda and Mario Ceballos, who together with France's Brice Tirabassi will defend the colours of the SUBARU RALLY TEAM SPAIN in the tarmac and gravel rallies of the national series as well as in two events in the World Championship and the IRC. The three drivers and their respective co-drivers, Jordi Barrabes, Borja Rozada and Fabrice Gordon, will compete on board the Subaru Impreza Prodrive Grupo N. The Japanese car on display was already decorated with the logos of the team sponsors who will join in the impressive act that marks the official launch of the season for Subaru Spain's new team, whose first competitive commitment is imminent as next Friday, the 20th of March, sees the start of the Palma del Rio, a round of the Spanish Gravel Championship, and this event will see the debut of SUBARU RALLY TEAM SPAIN.
