ABSA OFF ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS FOR THE WESTERN CAPE

The Absa Off Road Championship next heads for the Western Cape where crews will tackle the CPMCC organised Nissan Dealer 400 on April 22 and 23.

The event, which has proven to be one of the toughest on the off road racing calendar, takes place in the Darling area where the terrain includes mountainous sections, power sapping sand tracks and high speed stages through the wheat fields.

Last year saw a dramatic increase in entries over the inaugural year and CPMCC chairman Bill Bright expects even more entries on this year's event.

Weather conditions in April are expected to be wetter than in previous years, when the event was held in March, which should reduce the dust and promote lower average speeds and safe overtaking.

The Nissan Dealer 400 gets underway with a 42km Prologue at 13h00 on Friday, April 22 with the main event, which comprises three laps of an 115km course, starting at 08h00 on Saturday, April 23.

The CPMCC has paid particular attention to making the route as spectator-friendly as possible and fans will have eight opportunities to see the spectacular Production and Special Vehicles in action on each lap.
