The 1998 Saxon Safari is the 4th Round of the 1998 Australian Rally Super Series, based in Hobart, Tasmania. Tasmania’s Saxon Safari takes the Australian Rally Championship teams South for some of the Super Series harshest conditions. Run in the forests south of Hobart, the competitors often expect the extra challenge of the cold, wet weather and the chance of ice and snow, as experienced in 1997. "The big unknown in the Saxon Safari is always if there will be snow on the course. If that happens then it’s a bit harder to predict the outcome," stated ARC Champion and Series leader Possum Bourne.
