Rally Argentino recieves IRC in a spectacular event
18.03.2010. Rally Argentino's second showdown of the year will present an upgrade version of the National Series. This weekend the Argentine Rally Championship will tackle a special competition in which it will share the ground with the Intercontinental Rally Challenge's third round and the South American Rally Championship's second presentation.
The countdown for the 30th. Rally de Argentina has now began, and local drivers are really eager to start the competition as it's an unique opportunity to show themselves in a wide world master class event, where they will try to draw level with IRC's best representatives.
Most of the Argentine credits believe the new 33mm. turbo restrictor regulation for Group N it will enhance his chances of fighting straightly for a podium position against S2000 cars.
"We are really motivated, we started the season with a victory in the first round and we're looking forward this race. The stages are those I enjoy the best and I had a good feeling with the Subaru. We know we can be competitive and match the S2000's pace" said Baratec's driver and 2001 FIA Group N4 Cup Champion Gabriel Pozzo.
As for the reigning Champion Federico Villagra, he will step into the unknown when he makes his maiden debut at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000. "Coyote" had tested the M-Sport product for the first time on tuesday, completing 130 kilometers in a stage near Carlos Paz, where the headquarters are settled.
"I was really taken aback by the performance of the car. The frame is quite tough and well balanced, which enables you to bend and brake in a smooth way. Of course is far from matching the Focus I drive in the WRC, however it has a lot of potential" said Villagra, who will start the rally in second position, behind Nasser Al-Attiyah.
30th Rally de Argentina's action will start on Friday afternoon with a SSS which will take place across Carlos Paz lakeside main avenue, where two cars will compete at the same time. Early on Saturday the drivers will head for the South of Cordoba province, the Calamuchita Valley, to complete seven stages. On Sunday the race will be establish in the Punilla Valley, with five stages schedule, before complete a second run through Carlos Paz SSS.
