August 16, 2004.- The penultimate round of the Motul Quebec Rally Cup, presented by DMS, last weekend's Rallye des Draveurs displayed a strong fight between champions with David Legault (defending champion) finishing first, in front of Marc Racine, who's second position is enought to assure the 2004 title.

It is on extremely fast gravel roads in the Forêt de l'Aigle, near Maniwaki that David Legault/Pat Lavigne (Ford Escort) clinched the lead from the first to the last chronometred stages. It is a first win this season for the Laurentian pair.

Winner of the last three events, Marc Racine and Pascal Gadbois, from Rawdon, were looking for victory, even if they only needed a third place to get the 2004 championship title. At the end, Racine and Gadbois conceeded 2 minutes to Legault but still win the essential with their first championship title. Only 1 second apart from Racine is Montreal's Yohan Tessier, back again on the podium after severals mecanicals troubles in the last events.

Among the favourites, only one team did not score high points: Mathieu and Laurence-Fanny L'Estage. They went off-road just before mid-race and could only assure the eleventh position. Except this 20 minutes lost, they have scored couple of best times during this event.

Winner of the Production 3 class, Simon Dube, co-driven by Elise Racette, finished 4th overall, in front of Yanick Touchette (Subaru 4-wheels drive, non-championship entry) and Eric Lord (VW Golf). Nicolas Godard is 7th overall and wins the Production 2 class with his Honda Civic.

14 teams have competed in this third edition of Rallye des Draveurs and 12 crossed the finish line. The last event of the 2004 Motul Quebec Rally Cup, presented by DMS will be held on September 10 and 11 with the presentation of the very popular Defi Ste-Agathe/Duhamel.
