Possum Bourne has claimed his fourth straight Australian Rally Championship, clinching the win ahead of Toyota rival Neal Bates. Bates and Bourne ended up tying the event, Bates taking the upper hand in Heat 2, winning by 13 seconds. However, Bourne's overall point score ended at 150, 8 points clear of Bates, handing the spectacular Kiwi the ARC crown.
"We're really chuffed," stated an ecstatic Bourne. "It's a real credit to the team, it's bloody hard to beat them (Toyota Team Australia) any day of the week and they've really got their package together!"
