The Saxon Safari has been run and won, with Subaru's Possum Bourne going on to claim his fifth consecutive Championship while Group N team mate Cody Crocker has again shown his class and huge potential to net the production Championship for a third straight year!
Another disappointing season for Neal Bates, heading into the final round both Bates and Bourne were locked on equal points. However a pre-event test session went horribly wrong after the Corolla WRCar veered wide on a fast corner, plunging off the road into a number of trees, the Toyota Team fortunate to get the car to the start line. Bates can take solace in the fact that Bourne didn't have the season to himself despite Bourne's flying start and the Toyota Team will look to Rally Australia as a chance to win back some lost pride.
So with the Super Series complete we have just one rally left, the ultimate challenge, Telstra Rally Australia, the Australian Round of the FIA World Rally Championship. While a number of the Super Series regulars will choose to miss this event due to associated costs and logistics it will still provide a true test for any of the drivers with World Championship aspirations, particularly for Possum Bourne, Neal Bates, Cody Crocker and Ed Ordynski who will all be looking to take the attack right up to the International stars!
