Jones debuts new engine on Woodpecker
Stone based Neville Jones made a welcome return to rallying after the summer break by successfully debuting a new, more powerful engine in his Vulcan Fasteners backed Subaru Impreza on last weekends Woodpecker Stages.
Jones, a BTRDA Championship regular, was re-united with brother in law Julian for the Ludlow based event. And with a new 'B13' engine installed in his Impreza Jones enjoyed a fun filled day in the woods as he dusted off the cobwebs whilst having to adapt his driving technique to the new engine, which features improved torque at higher revs, but by the end of the day were on the pace of their class rivals.
It's nice to be back! We've got a new engine in the Subaru, but ran it on a 'safe' map this weekend as we only took delivery of the power plant last Friday. There is a lot more to come and I'm really looking forward to the Cambrian Rally now.
Neville will be back out in action on the tarmac based Patriot Stages next before tackling the end of season Cambrian Rally, which takes place on 17 October in Llandudno in North Wales. The Cambrian Rally is the final round of the BTRDA Rally Championship but is also hoping to attract a number of World Rally Championship contenders in preparation for the final round of the World Rally Championship, Rally of Great Britain, which takes place a week later.
