Hamed Al-Wahaibi Win The "Teams Cup" In Australia !!!

Oman leading rally driver Hamed Al-Wahaibi won the WRC round in Australia in the Teams Cup class in his Allstar Subaru Impreza WRC 2001. He also finished the rally in 13th place .

This was the sixth and last round of the Teams Cup championship, the win gave Al-Wahaibi the 3rd place in this year Teams Cup championship.

Al-Wahaibi posted good times in the special stages comparing to the more experienced and well-manned drivers.

Al-Wahaibi held the Team's Cup lead right from the third stage of the first day, won 10 stages out of the event's 20 stages.

It is just the second rally Al-Wahaibi finished this season in the Team's Cup class, in the Portugal Rally he came 2nd, the win in Australia is a deserve one to Al-Wahaibi good driving.

After the rally Al-Wahaibi said that he and his co-driver did well in the Australia rally and they are happy with the results.

I meet Al-Wahaibi just before the start of the Cyprus rally this year in Limasol, and we spoke a little, he was very optimistic about the rally and his future, but he was out of the rally in the 1st stage there after fire caught his car.

The future of Al-Wahaibi rally career is still not known after the FIA cancelled the Teams Cup for 2002. He can still run in the WRC, or in group-N car or even may be comming back to the Middle-east Rally Championship to try and beat Muhamed Ben-Sulyem, the 13 time champion there in MERC.

Only time will tell....
