TOYOTA DOMINATE REGIONAL RESULTS AT RFS MAGALIES 400
After a cleans sweep in the Production Vehicle national championship category at the RFS Magalies 400 over the weekend, Toyota also ran away with the major Northern Regions regional championship results.
The regional event was run in conjunction with the national race at what was the final race of this year's Absa Off Road Championship. Toyota's domination saw them win all three classes.
First overall were Gene Boshoff and Gary Porter in a Toyota Hilux who came in around eight minutes ahead of Ian Boshoff and Douw Grobler in another Toyota Hilux. Third were Hennie Lemmer and Dawie Lange in yet another Toyota Hilux.
Toyota also took the honours in Class D with Barrie Drenth and Natasha Muller fourth overall in another Toyota Hilux. Class F was won by Dewald Hattingh and Doep du Preez also in a Toyota Hilux.
There was some good racing in the Special Vehicle category with a handful of competitors competing in both the national and regional races. Class A honours went to Johan van Staden and James Rossouw, in the KEC BAT, who were third overall and winners of Class P in the national event.
Second in Class A were Kobus Bekker and Philip Pienaar in a Raceco. Van Staden/Rossouw and Bekker/Pienaar were the only Class A finishers.
Class B was dominated by veterans. Wolf-Peter Pfumfei (WPP) came in ahead of former national champion Giel Nel and Deon de Kock (LUK Afrika Truggy) with Stewart van Graan and Stanton Daniell third in a Zarco Lite.
The Class C honours went to Johan de Klerk and Louis Pretorius who were also second in Class B in the national race. Gideon and Annetjie Chomse, in a Sandmaster, were second with the two crews the only Class C finishers.
