One Tasmanian icon backs another
Leading Tasmanian wine company, Kreglinger Wine Estates, has become the latest company to get behind the state's iconic motorsport event, Targa Tasmania.
The deal will see Ninth Island take on naming rights to the inaugural Targa Tasmania Hall of Fame Dinner to be held on Sunday, May 3, and become the official wine of the rally.
Event director, Mark Parry, is delighted to have his rally backed by the Ninth Island brand.
"We know Targa Tasmania brings a whole lot of motoring enthusiasts to this state for one week," Perry said.
"What we also know is that as well as a passion for cars, these people also share a passion for fine food and wine.
"Tasmania is rightly proud of its food and wine industry, and at Targa, we are particularly pleased that one of the state's premium wine companies, Kreglinger, will showcase its product to our competitors, their friends and supporters."
As well as at the Hall of Fame Dinner, Ninth Island will be exclusively served at a range of other functions across the week long event.
"Targa brings together people who are industry leaders in many walks of life across the country, and even from overseas," Perry said. "This sponsorship ensures these people experience how good Kreglinger-produced wines are, and they'll take that message home and spread the word to their friends and colleagues.
"I think this is a really good partnership that will produce real benefits for Tasmania," he added.
Targa Tasmania, Australia's ultimate tarmac rally, will be held for the 18th time, commencing on April 28.
The inaugural Targa Wrest Point, was successfully conducted on the weekend of January 31 and February 1.
