At the beginning of the final day at the Barum-Rally in Czech Zlin Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel once more attracted attention with several top times among the non-S2000-cars
The Interwetten Racing duo, that had taken up this IRC-run from 26th intermediate place this morning, has already moved up to 20th overall place after three completed special stages so far
After yesterday's harsh setback from 14th to 26th place due to a tyre damage, Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel started into the final day of the Barum-Rally with the goal to reach several very good times in the class of the non-S2000-cars once more.
This plan already worked out on the 28 kilometres long stage in Trojak (SS 10) where the drivers of the Interwetten Racing Team reached 13th place. Things even went better on SS 11 with a very good eleventh place. Thus they also moved up in the overall standings to 20th rank. One nevertheless wasn't completely satisfied in the Wittmann-camp.
"On the first long stage it took me several kilometres to find the right rhythm. It only started to go smoothly at about halftime and I could make up time again. After the stage we controlled the tyre pressure and discovered that we once more had driven with a slow pressure leak. We therefore changed one tyre prior to SS 11, just in case", said Wittmann.
There was only one change at the top. Belgian Freddy Loix, who had been in second place behind Czech Jan Kopecky, had to retire prematurely due to a mechanical problem at his Peugeot S2000.
