The Interwetten Racing Duo lies in excellent 10th place after five special stages

Franz Wittmann (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) was not at all surprised by the course of events on the first five special stages of the "Rally Principe Asturias". The superiority of the S2000 cars, thanks to the fast tarmac stages of the ninth IRC-run of this season, had been predictable. Not to mention that the protagonists of the scene know this rally by heart. Except for one: Franz Wittmann, who competes for the first time in the North of Spain. But the Interwetten Racing driver nevertheless offered a brilliant performance so far. Reward for this: tenth intemediate place in the overall ranking - which also makes Wittmann/Ettl the best Mitsubishi team of the rally.

"Heavy and fast. A true challenge which I love to meet, giving my best. Unfortunately we can't possibly compete with the S2000s due to the weight of the Mitsubishi alone. For each and every kilogramme counts. But it is always uplifting when we cross the finishing line ahead of the strong Mitsubishi local heroes", said Franz Wittmann.

Further four special stages are scheduled for the afternoon of day one of the "Rally Principe de Asturias". Only afterwards the tactics for Saturday will be decided upon. But the Interwetten Racing duo has mastered the fine line between getting to know the rally and reaching a top ten result very fine indeed so far.
